I’ve been best friends with Kate Dougherty since our parents hosted a dinner party together in the early nineties and left us (sixth graders) together. We hit it off that night and have since traveled tougher, lived together, and worked together. Most recently, Kate, who lives with her wonderful fiancé in Charleston, SC, transformed a downtown Manhattan loft space for our Fortune Finds launch party and pop-up store.
Kate’s a brilliant set decorator and designer, who’s clients include SUNO, The Leadbelly Restaurant, Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom and several lucky homeowners who’ve recruited her to make their spaces amazing. Just as important, she’s an incredible friend with a penchant for adventure (this summer she road biked halfway across the country), an ear for good music, and an eye for good design.

My Moroccan rattan shoes I found them in Marrakech last Spring; I should have gotten 100 pairs.

Camping.
What you’d currently like to splurge on?
I’m trying to wear more “easy everyday dresses,” so if I find one I really love, I’ll pay top dollar!
