Home Sweet Home

A few weeks ago Lonny Magazine came over to my Clinton Hill apartment. I shared with them some of my favorite keepsakes and Fortune Finds (Moroccan rugs, Object & Totem Ceramics, Wayne Pate Prints…) that make my home what it is. A big thank you to Genevieve Garruppo for capturing some beautiful images and to Sarah Jean Shelton for all her kind words. Check it out!

My home is layered with textiles: a favorite tassel tapestry from Adaptations hangs on the wall and Moroccan rugs cover the floors. Blankets from Caroline Z. Hurley are draped over the sofas and I adore my Native Line by Justine Ashbee metallic wall hanging … I really love having texture and prints around me.

As you can see, bold prints and artwork also dominate the space. I adore the face painting by Sally Benedict King (who we collaborated with on an exclusive line of printed leather goods) in my dining room and the “Madame Blue” by Wayne Pate (shop his prints on Fortune Finds now!) that my sister gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

The latest addition to my apartment, and one that I labored over for years, is the walnut sideboard pictured below. I had been looking for a piece to house extra dishes and keepsakes and struggled to find something clean that blended modern lines without looking too mid-century. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Yucca Stuff and commissioned the awesome Daniel Morrison to make me a piece. I couldn’t be happier with the result, which features brass handles by Richard Watson.

The brass swing lights beside my bed are from Shop One Forty Three. The pillow is a favorite from Coral and Tusk, and the black and white photograph is by Patrick Dougherty (shop similar ones on Fortune Finds here!). I am obsessed with the sketch that hangs over the desk in the bedroom – it’s an illustration by our friend and collaborator Bernadette Pascua.

Our bedroom is a little sanctuary in the middle of crazy New York. The safari chair in the corner was found in Hudson, NY and the baskets were collected in Mexico. I love escaping here to get away from the chaos of the city; the exposed beams and wide plank floors remind me of a country retreat.
