I was so excited when RoC Skincare approached me about collaborating on an exclusive collar to celebrate their new RoC MULTI CORREXION 5 in 1 Chest, Neck and Face Cream with SPF 30. Since turning 30 last year, I’ve become much more aware of what I put on my skin, and with the choker trend in full effect, I thought this was a particularly relevant partnership.

After what seems like another endless winter (and with upcoming travel to Mexico and Southeast Asia), I am particularly ready to embrace a little bare skin. And the SS16 runway trends are thoroughly encouraging me… I’m obsessed with the slips at Celine and Calvin Klein, the off-the-shoulder trend that seems to be everywhere (Proenza Schouler!), and the ever-perfect neutrals from The Row, which for Spring are declaring “Skin is In!”

Metal collars have also been having quite the moment; with an array of versions (from curvy and cool at Bottega Veneta and J.W. Anderson to sleek at Celine and tribal at Valentino) showing up on the Spring runways:

For the RoC exclusive design, I wanted something that felt comfortable (a flexible wire collar is something you can wear over a turtleneck or with a tunic!) and yet was still graphic and “cool”, hence the addition of 6 semi-precious onyx cabochons in the front:

I love that it’s clean and chic, yet still maintains some interest. It’s the piece I will throw on all summer as I’m running out the door to amp up my tank-culotte-espadrille look.
