Japanese Dreams

Our SS14 collection was entirely informed by the trip we took to Japan last April, and as I re-visit the Spring styles (which have just landed in stores!) I am reminded of how much I love Japan.

SS14 collection

The SS14 collection emerged as 2 distinct stories, both based on our travels. The first: “Shibuya“, features crystal and leather collars with pops of neon pink and red and bright over-the-top earrings reflecting Tokyo’s electric and dynamic downtown:

The second story “Naoshima” is inspired by the traditional colors of Kyoto and the natural landscape of Naoshima, a fishing village that has been transformed into a contemporary “art island” in the Seto Inland Sea. The island – complete with installations by contemporary art heavyweights like Walter de Maria and James Turrell – perfectly blends cutting-edge art and architecture with pristine nature (rolling hills plunge into the sea) and provided me with such energy while designing Spring’14:

I’m so grateful to this trip for providing me with seemingly endless inspiration… Japan is such a wonderful place and I can’t wait to return!
