Sarah + SZ Blockprints
No doubt about it, SZ Blockprints founder and creative director, Sarah Zellweger, is a woman of our own heart. Her love for slowly produced, handmade goods comes together in the form of gorgeous, heritage blockprints that exude an effortless, worldly feel. Working with a multi-generational printing studio in Jaipur, Sarah and her team use one of India’s oldest printing techniques to create ethical fabrics and garments for men, women, children and the home. Here are five things you never knew about the textile master herself. Enjoy!
Lightning Round: 5 Things you didn’t know about Sarah Zellweger
1. Favorite textile designer (dead or alive):
Kitty Rae, the mother of blockprint in Jaipur. She is a true renegade: bold, independent, spirited, and beautiful.
2. What do you want to be when you grow up?:
I will take this page out of Miss Rumphis: Go to faraway places, live by the sea and do something to make the world more beautiful.
3. On vacation everyone should bring ____ with them:
SZ Blockprints (duh), a stack of old New Yorkers to catch up on, and a great pair of socks for the airplane (my best friend who got married in Maine a few new year’s ago gave out tie dye socks as a wedding gift and I swear I won’t get on a plane without them) and that’s pretty much it. Wherever I go, I try to do like the locals!
4. Currently obsessed with:
My LF gemini heart necklace, The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson, SZ x J.Crew swim, the weekly podcast by Tara Brach (it will change your life), Man Repeller editorials and snail mail.
5. Favorite piece of advice you’ve ever received?:
“Just keep grinding!” – My Dad.
